Accessibility
We want everyone to enjoy the Los Angeles World Cup 26 Fan Zone at Venice Beach. This page describes how we work to make the event and this website accessible to people with disabilities, what's available at the venue on event day, and how to request accommodations or report a barrier.
1. Our Commitment
The Los Angeles World Cup 26 Fan Zone at Venice Beach is committed to providing an inclusive experience for all guests, including those with disabilities. We work to comply with the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA), the California Unruh Civil Rights Act, and Title III of the ADA as they apply to the venue, this website, ticketing, on-site operations, and communications.
2. Website Accessibility
This website (the "Site") targets conformance with the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1 at Level AA. We design and build the Site with the following in mind:
- Semantic HTML and a logical heading structure for screen readers
- Text alternatives for meaningful images
- Keyboard-accessible navigation, with a visible focus indicator
- Color contrast that meets WCAG AA for body text
- Respect for the operating system's reduced-motion preference
- A "Skip to content" link for keyboard and screen-reader users
- Descriptive page titles and link text
If you encounter content on the Site that is difficult to use, please tell us — see Report a Barrier.
3. Venue & Event-Day Access
The Fan Zone is on Windward Plaza and the adjacent Venice Beach boardwalk (Ocean Front Walk). The plaza and boardwalk are paved and ADA-accessible. Some adjacent areas are sand and may not be wheelchair-traversable without a beach wheelchair.
- Step-free entry at the main Fan Zone gate, with accessible queueing
- Boardwalk access for the entire free public footprint (Windward Block Party)
- Beach wheelchairs available on request — please request at least 48 hours in advance
- Accessible drop-off at Windward Ave & Pacific Ave (east side of the Block Party)
[OPERATOR: please confirm beach wheelchair availability and drop-off zone details.]
4. Accessible Viewing & Seating
Windward Plaza has designated ADA viewing platforms with clear sight lines to the main LED screen. Companion seating is available next to each ADA position. Standard tickets entitle guests with disabilities (and one companion) to use these areas at no additional cost — please mention this when claiming your wristband at the gate, or contact us in advance so we can hold space.
[OPERATOR: confirm platform locations and capacity once production plan is locked.]
5. Restrooms & Facilities
ADA-compliant restrooms are available throughout the Fan Zone and the Windward Block Party footprint. Locations are marked on the event-day map. Family restrooms are also available.
6. Service Animals
Service animals as defined by the ADA are welcome throughout the Fan Zone, including ticketed areas and the free public Block Party. Emotional-support animals, comfort animals, and pets are not permitted inside the ticketed Fan Zone. Water stations are available at the main first-aid tent for service animals.
7. Hearing Access
The Fan Zone is built primarily around visual programming — live match broadcasts on large LED screens and visual signage throughout the footprint. Match broadcasts on the LED screens display closed captions as provided by the broadcaster. Key operational announcements (e.g., schedule changes, safety information) are displayed visually on screen and on signage in addition to any PA announcement, so attendees do not need to rely on audio alone.
Assistive listening devices (ALDs) are available on request at the main info tent. Please request ALDs at least 48 hours in advance to guarantee availability.
ASL interpretation and CART (real-time captioning) are not provided as scheduled programming at this event. However, we will make a good-faith effort to arrange interpretation or captioning for a specific portion of the day's programming if requested in advance. We recommend submitting requests at least 14 days before event day so we have time to arrange a qualified provider — please use the contact details in Requesting Accommodations.
[OPERATOR: confirm ALD inventory and the process for handling ASL/CART requests if any are received.]
8. Sensory-Friendly Spaces
A quiet, low-stimulation "Decompression Zone" is available near the Windward Plaza entrance for guests who need a break from crowds, noise, or visual stimulation. The zone includes shaded seating, reduced sound levels, and access to staff trained to assist. Sensory bags (noise-reducing headphones, fidgets, communication cards) are available on request at the info tent.
[OPERATOR: confirm Decompression Zone footprint and staffing.]
9. Accessible Transit & Parking
The event is transit-first by design. The following routes are ADA-accessible:
- Metro E Line — All stations and trains are ADA-accessible. The Downtown Santa Monica terminus has step-free access to street level.
- Big Blue Bus Route 1 — All vehicles are ADA-accessible with low floors and wheelchair ramps. Stops at Windward & Main are level with the sidewalk.
- Metro Bus 33 — All vehicles are ADA-accessible.
ADA parking is available at the City of Los Angeles beach lots adjacent to the venue. Spaces are first-come, first-served. A small number of ADA spaces are reserved on event days — please contact us in advance to reserve one.
If you are arriving by accessible ride-share or paratransit, the designated drop-off is at Windward Ave & Pacific Ave (just east of the Venice Sign), which provides step-free routing into the Block Party and Fan Zone.
10. Mobility Devices & Charging
Powered wheelchairs, scooters, and other mobility devices are welcome throughout the venue. Charging stations are available at the main info tent and the medical/first-aid tent. Both are marked on the event-day map. Trained staff can assist with route planning around the footprint.
11. Requesting Accommodations
If you need an accommodation we haven't already listed — including but not limited to beach wheelchair reservations, assistive listening devices, ASL outside the main programming, dietary accommodations, or anything else — please contact us as far in advance of the event as you can. We recommend at least 14 days' notice, though we'll do our best with shorter notice.
Accommodation requests & accessibility questions:
- Email: hello@fanzone26.com
- Phone: +1 (602) 697-9202
- Subject line: "Accessibility — Accommodation Request"
We treat accommodation information confidentially.
12. Report a Barrier
If you encounter an accessibility barrier on this website, at the venue on event day, or anywhere in our communications, please tell us. We treat accessibility reports as a priority and aim to respond within two business days.
- Email: hello@fanzone26.com
- Phone: +1 (602) 697-9202
- Subject line: "Accessibility — Barrier Report"
When reporting a website barrier, please include the page URL, the browser and assistive technology you were using, and a brief description of the issue.
13. Standards & Known Limitations
Standards. This website targets WCAG 2.1 Level AA. We test in current versions of Chrome, Safari, Firefox, and Edge, with NVDA, VoiceOver, and TalkBack screen readers.
Known limitations.
- The embedded Google map is provided by a third party. While Google works to make Google Maps accessible, some pin and layer controls may be difficult to use with a screen reader. The transit information shown in the map is also published in plain text on the event page (Getting Here section) and on this page.
- Some FWC26-branded display fonts are used for short headings. Body copy uses a default sans-serif for maximum legibility.
Ongoing work. We continue to improve the website ahead of event day, including additional ARIA labelling on interactive components and contrast adjustments where needed.
